The ordinary beginning
Lunor was originally born as a kitsune in a particular reality. His original home, family, era, and early motivations have not yet been decided. His memories of that beginning remain valid.

Convergence
At some point in his personal life, Lunor encountered the Sanctum. A proposed Perfect Convergence brought his Manifest, Reflection, and Root into alignment with the Sanctum's fundamental nature. This transformed his Signature into a universal constant.

Retroactive result
Because the Root is not bound to linear time, the new invariant extended to eras preceding Lunor's birth. Ancient encounters, records, and echoes may authentically place him before the point from which he remembers beginning.

The power balance
One working explanation holds that the Convergence fixed the Sixteenfold Equilibrium: eight Shard-equivalents of power with Lunor, eight with the Sanctum. Whether this power was divided, revealed, or had already always been so is an open paradox.

Unanswered
The exact trigger, whether the transformation was intentional, and what occurred within the First Threshold are unknown. The event is the central unsolved mystery of the setting.
